What to Consider When Considering Decluttering Your Space (Spring Cleaning)

I thought we stay on the subject of spring for a bit longer. After all, it is still spring. And there’s something about it that makes everything feel noticeable.
The light is brighter, the air feels fresher – and suddenly, that one chair full of clothes has a bit more presence than before. Spring cleaning tends to show up like a task, something on a to-do list. But it can also be a small reset. A way to make your space feel lighter, easier, and a little more enjoyable to be in.
If you’re in the mood to declutter this season, here are a few things to consider.

You Don’t Have to Do Everything

There’s a certain pressure around spring cleaning – like everything needs to be cleaned, sorted, and perfectly organized all at once. It doesn’t. You can pick one thing. Just one. A drawer. A shelf. That one spot you keep noticing.
That’s already a reset.

Start With the Easy Wins

Not everything needs deep thinking.
Some things are ready to go, and you already know it.
• Things you haven’t used in a long time
• Items that don’t quite work anymore
• Random bits you forgot you even had
Starting easy builds momentum – and makes the whole process feel lighter.

Your “Messy Spots” Are Trying to Tell You Something

We all have them. A chair, a corner, a surface that somehow collects everything. Instead of being annoyed by it, get curious. Maybe it’s not just clutter – maybe it’s a system that doesn’t quite work yet. A small change there (a basket, a hook, a better spot) can make a big difference.

Let It Feel Good, Not Strict

Decluttering doesn’t have to feel like a rulebook, you don’t need a perfect method. You don’t need to question every single item deeply. If you like it and use it – keep it. If you don’t – maybe it’s time to let it go. Simple can be enough. And if you feel bad about throwing something out, even better solution is donating it, someone will use it, and you’ll do something good for yourself, as well as someone else.

Fresh Air Helps More Than You Think

Before (or/and during) cleaning, open a window. It sounds small, but it changes everything. The space feels different and you feel different.
Sometimes, it’s not about doing more – it’s about letting your space breathe a little.

A Little Shift Can Change the Whole Room

You don’t always need to remove things, sometimes, moving something is enough.
• Clear one surface
• Rearrange a small corner
• Put something where you can actually enjoy it
Small shifts can make your space feel new again – without much effort.

It’s Okay If It Stays a Little Lived-In

Your space doesn’t need to look perfect. It just needs to feel good to you. A bit of life, a bit of mess, a bit of comfort – that’s what makes it yours. Decluttering isn’t about perfection. It’s about ease.

Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a big event. It can be a series of small, satisfying moments. Throw something out. Move something around. Open a window and let the air in.That’s already a shift.
And sometimes, that’s all you really need.

Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.
