What to Consider When Considering Christmas

Ten days until Christmas. 🙂

Often, I find myself waiting forever for Christmas, only to see it arrive so quickly. But it’s the wait, the preparation, the excitement of its arrival, that’s what it’s about for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas day, but that’s kind of the beginning of the end for me, it means we have reached the peak, and now this beautiful season is passing. The warmth, the lights, the joy, people find it hard to keep it after the Christmas season. But it is still amazing to have it while it’s here.

I do love this season; it brings so much happiness. I go a little crazy with the lights and the tree and the gifts, nothing extravagant, but a little crazy. 🙂 I’ve been so lucky to marry the man who loves Christmas as much as I do, so we go a little crazy together. And the songs, oh, the beautiful Christmas songs, Christmas melodies, we love, love, love them. We are more of a Sinatra era type, but we love the modern too, of course, we do. 🙂

Have you ever listened to a live orchestra playing Christmas melodies? Last year it was a first for me. We went for a walk under the lights and heard the live music in the distance. We followed the music and found the orchestra playing under the Christmas lights. It was beautiful, it was one of the most memorable Christmas moments for me. That’s what it’s all about, about those moments, whether it’s listening to live music, watching a Christmas movie snuggled with your loved one, or having a family meal, Christmas is full of those moments; we just need to notice them to enjoy them.

Last time we talked about how crazy December can be, but it is also beautiful in all its craziness; you just need to stop to appreciate it.
I like to start early with the presents, in late November, and I mostly order them online, so then December is left for browsing, decorating our home, visiting Christmas markets, and enjoying the lights. We do it all through December so we can take it easy and feel the magic.

Even if you’re not a Christmas person, I’m sure you can still find something you like because there is so much good about Christmas, but you need to try and see it through positive, not the negative. Don’t think about how much time and money presents will take from you, but how much happiness they will bring for those who get them. Don’t think about how much you’re not in the mood to decorate the tree, but how much you’ll enjoy its beauty and warmth when it’s done. Try not to think about who or what you don’t have, but about what you do have and the love you might not have noticed but was there all along, in the form of a friend, family member, or a potential special someone.
Christmas really can be a magical time, I promise you this, but you need to try and see it, and I know you can. 🙂

So, find your pace, do what you like, and make the best out of this Christmas season, no time like the present!
Wish you all a truly most wonderful time of the year, a beautiful ending of this year, and the beginning of the new one, where I will see you all again.

Have a happy holiday and a merry Christmas, everyone! 🙂

Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts.
